SOIL SCOUT
A SENSOR SYSTEM LIKE NO OTHER

Lower costs.
More efficiency.
Better performance.

Soil Scout is the first fully buried soil sensor system that allows you to place any number of wireless sensors in an area, providing a complete, real-time underground map in the palm of your hand.
It is the most advanced and cost-effective soil monitoring solution for professionals in:
• Golf Courses (greens e fairways)
• Sports fields (soccer, baseball, etc.)
• Municipalities (parks and recreation)
• Equestrian (tracks and arenas)
• Agriculture (farms and orchards)
• Any other irrigated area.
HOW IT WORKS

MAIN BENEFITS

REAL-TIME MONITORING
Soil Scout is the only soil sensor solution that can be freely distributed across a field. It provides an online view of soil conditions, enabling managers to make timely and informed decisions.

AUTOMATIC IRRIGATION CONTROL
By understanding soil moisture levels, irrigation can be optimized, generating cost savings and water conservation. During irrigation, real-time data (before, during and after) enables quick reactions and the ability to maintain optimal soil moisture over the long term, as well as develop an accurate irrigation strategy.

EASE
FOR USE
Soil Scout systems are designed to be user-friendly, allowing even non-technological individuals to gain insights easily.

DEEP SOIL ANALYSIS
The small sensors operate for 20 years, without the need for maintenance, providing data on soil moisture, temperature and electrical conductivity.

IMPROVES SOIL HEALTH
By acting on the insights provided by Soil Scout, turf managers can work to improve overall soil resilience in a changing climate, ensuring better long-term results.

DATA-DRIVEN DECISIONS
Instead of relying on intuition or outdated methods, decisions are made based on accurate information.

INTELLIGENCE BY FIELD AREA
Intelligent positioning of sensors provides real-time monitoring of actual differences in the field, allowing each zone to be treated individually and optimally.

PREVENTION OF DISEASES AND PESTS
Identifying unfavorable conditions helps to react early against potential diseases and pests. Observing which conditions triggered the problems helps to make practices more proactive.
HARDWARE & SOFTWARE

SCOUT
SENSOR
A small, robust, and wireless sensor specifically designed to transmit data up to two meters below the ground. The Soil Scout sensor measures and transmits raw data to the network every hour for up to 20 years, including:
• Moisture
• Temperature
• Electrical Conductivity

HAPPI
100
A small, robust, and wireless buried sensor specifically designed to go beyond and measure the oxygen level of your turf. It measures:
• Moisture
• Temperature
• Oxygen

SOIL
SCOUT
HUB
The server performs data validation and applies correction equations to the received raw measurement packets. The user interface facilitates data analysis and is also the hub for equipment management. The Alarms and Notifications functionality allows for sending emails in case of exceptions, and real-time data export via a Web Service API can be enabled.

BASE
STATION
It receives signals from Scouts via a Receiving Antenna and sends data to the Soil Scout Hub server using a cellular modem. Typically mounted on a pole or building, it can provide up to 1,000m of range to the sensors. The type of antenna is chosen according to the specific needs of the site. Each Base Station can handle more than 1,000 Scouts.

ECHO
REPEATER
When direct transmission to the Base Station is not possible due to distance or topographical barriers, one or more solar-powered Echo Repeaters can be used to retransmit the signal. Range over 5 km in line of sight.
SOIL OXYGEN
The newly launched Happi 100 is the first sensor that measures soil oxygen levels in real time!
Healthy roots are the foundation for robust plants, resulting in higher above-ground biomass and better overall health. However, soil oxygen levels are critical to maintaining healthy roots, and monitoring this parameter has always been nearly impossible.
Until now...

THE BENEFITS OF
OXYGEN MEASUREMENT
Prevent root hypoxia: When soil oxygen levels begin to drop, you can plan and perform maintenance.
Improve drainage insights: By clearly identifying areas with poor drainage, you can focus efforts on interventions like aeration to improve overall soil health.
Increase nutrient uptake: Healthy subsoil oxygen levels are essential to plants’ ability to absorb nutrients needed for growth.
Adapt to field variations: Oxygen and moisture levels vary between properties and within fields due to different soil conditions and characteristics. Therefore, tailored irrigation and aeration are required to support optimal growth on every square foot of land.
Support precision aeration: Instead of aerating entire fields, focus on specific areas.
Avoid over-irrigation: A clear view of oxygen dynamics during rainfall or irrigation events will help avoid saturation.
Promote faster recovery: Well-drained areas can recover oxygen levels within 1 day, while areas with poor drainage can take up to 7 days. Monitoring ensures timely and accurate interventions for faster recovery.
Maximize Playability: Selective aeration keeps a higher percentage of playing surfaces open for longer, reducing closures and labor costs, and increasing field uptime.
A GAME CHANGER FOR SPORTS FIELDS!
MAXIMIZE PLAY TIME
Keep more areas of the playing surface open by avoiding unnecessary closures for maintenance.
LOWER COSTS
Targeted maintenance saves on aeration services, labor and fuel costs, reducing operating expenses.
IMPROVE SURFACE CONDITIONS
Healthier roots, supported by optimized oxygen levels, result in more resilient playing surfaces that stay green and lush for longer.
