OVERSEEDING

PERFECT FIELD ALL YEAR ROUND

THE TECHNIQUE THAT KEEPS YOUR FIELD PERFECT
ALL YEAR ROUND!

Winter overseeding is the process of applying new winter grass seeds to an already established summer grass, without removing the existing vegetation. This procedure is essential to maintaining the density and uniformity of the turf. It ensures a green and healthy field throughout the year, even during the colder months when warm grass species enter dormancy and have reduced recovery capacity from the intense sports use the fields endure.

Seeds imported from DLF (Ph.D. Ryegrass and Sabre III) are market leaders for the overseeding process. By implementing them alongside the existing grass species, you make the turf more adaptable, ensuring consistent playability, athlete safety, and aesthetics, as it fully develops and grows quickly even under lower temperature and light conditions.

WHEN
TO DO?

Overseeding with PhD Ryegrass is recommended between the months of October and November.

HOW TO DO IT?

PREPARATION

Start by mowing the existing turf to a low height to make it easier for the seed to make contact with the soil.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Perform a light Grooming or Vertical Cut to create space for new seeds.

APPLICATION OF SEEDS

Use a mechanical seeder to spread the seeds evenly.

TOPDRESSING

Apply a light layer of top dressing over the seeds to protect them.

IRRIGATION

Irrigate immediately after sowing and continue to irrigate regularly until germination.

ESSENTIAL CARE

Avoid heavy traffic on newly seeded field to avoid damaging the growth of seedlings.

Monitor soil moisture, keeping it constantly moist but not soggy.

Adopt an appropriate fertilization program to support the initial growth of new seedlings.

EXPECTED RESULTS

Increase in turf density, resulting in a more uniform playing surface.

Improvement in the turf’s resistance to wear caused by intensive use.

Maintenance of turf color and appearance during periods of climatic stress.

How long to wait for sports use after service?

The field will need a recovery period of 3 to 4 weeks before use to allow the new seeds to germinate and establish.
